Everyone knows recycling means less trash going to our landfills. But the greatest environmental benefits of recycling are related not to landfills, but to the conservation of energy and natural resources and the prevention of pollution when a recycled material, rather than a raw material, is used to make a new product.
On America Recycle Day, Common Ground for Conservation endorses the recycling and the purchase of products made with recycled content and encourages the community to get involved in the contest,
"Florida (K-12) Schools Recycling Pledge Card" promoting, distributing and collecting Postcards at the Miami-Dade schools.

10/18/2005: Citizens of the global community and Common Ground for Conservation Clean Water Team will join in World Water Monitoring Day (WWMD)

This is a great way to learn how monitoring helps to protect our waters. Four simple tests are basic indicators of the water’s health. You can learn how to sample for dissolved oxygen (DO),  acidity (pH), temperature and turbidity and learn what each of these mean to thewater’s quality! Then results are entered into the international World Water Monitoring Day database so everyone can access them.
