The First World Marinera Congress Miami 2006: September 28 through October 1st. Toward the Recognition of La Marinera as Cultural Intangible Heritage
  
UNESCO Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity unanimously adopted in 2001, that cultural diversity must be considered as a "common heritage of humanity", and its "defense as an ethical imperative, inseparable from respect for human dignity."
Conscious of the need to preserve and to promote the understanding of the distinctive heritage of the Latin-American region and their cultural diversity expressions Sentimiento Peruano and Common Ground for Conservation, invite you to participate in the event that will change the history of La Marinera Dance.
This Congress will take place in the city of Miami between September 28th and October 1st at the Sheraton Miami Mart Hotel.
It will be a date in which the city of Miami will become enthusiastic with the happiness of the Peruvian community.
The “Fiesta del Paņuelo” and the magic of La Marinera dance will flood the streets of the city, diffusing Peruvian’s culture.
Having as the end goal the diffusion, promotion, cultivation, learning, teaching, and development of La Marinera, the general congressional objectives are:
1. To establish a destined space for the manifestation and permanent expression of La Marinera, as cultural patrimony for humanity, so that this collective culture is transmitted from generation to generation;
2. To promote the exchange of experiences amongst dancers of Marinera at an international level, so that the stylization, the dance of the handkerchief, and the love of the couple continue being the essence of La Marinera;
3. To promote alliances that involve the conservation of biodiversity, generating an increase of Hispanic participation in the effort to conserve natural resources, through valoration of the diversity of cultural expressions, and the preservation of its popular culture;
4. To contribute to the development and cultural exchange of Miami Dade county and Hispanic American towns, thereby enriching the collective culture of our residents and motivating new generations towards the construction of inclusive societies, in order to achieve sustainable development;
5. To augment motivations, interests and expectations of participants, who keeping cultural and natural points of view, elect Peru and Miami as tourist destinations.
In this event different activities linked to the Marinera will be developed such as are dance classes , workshops, Marinera Open Competition, forums, concerts, expositions of Peruvian craft, Peruvian products and activities of promotion of the Ecotourism in Peru and Miami.

The EXPO-Fair of the WORLD MARINERA CONGRESS MIAMI 2006, is a platform for the promotion of the touristic attractions of Peru and of the different shades of its culture.
