Common Ground for Conservation Launches Spring It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air Transportation and Clean Air Public Education Program
(Miami, 03/22/2007) — The Common Ground for Conservation kicked off “Global Warming Campaign” today with the launch of a spring It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air program, a public education initiative sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration that focuses attention on the simple things local residents can do this spring to improve air quality and reduce traffic congestion.
People across Miami-Dade County are being encouraged to consider taking a few simple steps—actions that fit into busy schedules without major inconvenience—to help ease traffic congestion in our area and make the air we breathe a little cleaner.
The spring program asks motorists to consider the following key messages:
•Good, regular car maintenance can reduce tailpipe emissions by more than 50 percent and prevent traffic congestion due to breakdowns.
•Walking and bicycling more often for short trips reduces traffic congestion and air pollution.
“Our participation in the It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air initiative really helps us in our efforts to inform local residents about simple, easy-to-do air quality tips that fit right into their busy schedules,” said Carlos Gomez. “Cleaner air is possible. If we all pitch in, we can reduce traffic congestion and air pollution in Miami-Dade.”
Common Ground for Conservation is a Community Partner with It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air—a national transportation and air quality public education and partnership-building initiative sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration.
